About The Position

Cisco Systems is seeking an engineer to validate the quality of next-generation networking platforms, including switches, routers, and data center systems. The role executes end-to-end system validation across hardware, firmware, and software to ensure robust performance, scalability, and reliability under real-world and stress conditions. It defines and carries out system-level validation strategies for complex networking platforms, develops automated test frameworks, and builds scalable validation environments. The engineer designs and executes tests for throughput, latency, and scale limits, performs root-cause analysis, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to identify system-level risks and resolve issues efficiently.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • At least 2 years of experience in system validation, system-level test, bench validation, product engineering, post-silicon validation, or hardware/software integration.
  • Hands-on experience developing and executing functional, stress, regression, and system-level test plans.
  • Ability to analyze test results, identify failure patterns, and independently resolve assigned issues.
  • Experience with bench debugging using oscilloscopes, DMMs, logic analyzers, power supplies, or similar laboratory equipment.
  • Experience with system-level root-cause analysis across hardware, firmware, software, and test infrastructure.
  • Experience using Python or similar scripting/programming languages for test automation, log analysis, and data processing.
  • Experience with Linux-based systems and diagnostic/debug tools.
  • Working knowledge of networking fundamentals, including Ethernet, TCP/IP, routing, and switching.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with ASIC bring-up, post-silicon validation, platform validation, or Product/Test Engineering, including production test, NPI, yield/failure analysis, or sustaining support.
  • Experience with bench characterization, margin testing, and high-speed interfaces such as Ethernet, PCIe, and SerDes.
  • Experience with network test tools or traffic generators such as Ixia or Spirent.
  • Familiarity with interfaces and debug protocols such as JTAG, I2C, SPI, UART, or MDIO.
  • Experience developing or using test automation frameworks and multi-DUT test environments.
  • Experience with test-data analysis using Python/pandas, JMP, SQL, or similar tools.

Responsibilities

  • Execute end-to-end system validation across hardware, firmware, and software stacks.
  • Define and execute system-level validation strategies for complex networking platforms.
  • Develop automated test frameworks and build scalable validation environments.
  • Design and execute tests for throughput, latency, and scale limits.
  • Perform root-cause analysis across system components and test infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify system-level risks and resolve issues.
