About The Position

The Sonoma County Family YMCA is seeking enthusiastic, dependable, and caring individuals to join our team as ASES Program Aides in our After School Education & Safety (ASES) program. This is a part-time school year position serving elementary students through academic enrichment, recreation, and youth development activities. We're especially interested in candidates who are available Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 8:30 AM and 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, as these are the core operating hours of our programs. Whether you're pursuing a career in education, child development, psychology, social services, or youth programming, this is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact while gaining valuable experience working with children and families.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • CPR and First Aid certification required within 90 days of employment
  • Ability to successfully complete DOJ and FBI background clearance, including sex offender screening
  • Ability to participate in community events representing YMCA ASES programs as needed

Responsibilities

  • Assisting students with academic enrichment and tutoring activities
  • Reinforcing classroom instruction in subjects such as language arts, math, science, history, social science, and computer skills
  • Supporting the implementation of lesson plans and enrichment activities
  • Assisting with arts, nutrition, physical activity, and other educational programming
  • Supervising children throughout the program and ensuring their health and safety
  • Helping maintain classroom materials and instructional equipment
  • Building positive relationships with students, families, school staff, and YMCA team members
  • Supporting special events and program activities
  • Assisting with attendance tracking and ensuring program policies and procedures are followed
  • Serving as a positive role model who reflects YMCA values every day
