About The Position

The Spine Team Texas ASC Perioperative Care Tech assists the medical staff team during the entire patient process. The PCT will be responsible or providing staff support in the Pre-Op, OR and PACU areas as well as providing assistance as assigned to the clinical staff in the ASC. This position must maintain active communication regarding patient status/progress with health team members and requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of Spine Team Texas. The ASC PCT reports directly to the ASC Nurse Manager.

Requirements

  • Minimum Education: High school diploma or equivalent
  • Current BLS certification (or completion within 30 days of hire date)
  • Excellent organization ability
  • Possess the ability to plan and execute work projects
  • Possess the ability to work productively, either independently or with other individuals
  • Proficient in communicating the English language both written and verbally
  • Knowledge in fundamentals of anatomy, physiology, aseptic technique and maintenance and care of equipment
  • Excellent attendance required
  • Willing to work extra hours as needed

  • Satisfactorily complete all mandatory training and competencies within the first 90 days of employment

Responsibilities

  • Cleaning/disinfection of patient bays according to policy
  • Preparation of patient stretchers
  • Removing soiled & used linen or full linen hampers from the clinical area
  • Assembly of patient admission packs
  • Removing patient IV catheters
  • Daily documentation of temperatures in required areas
  • Stock supplies and to maintain a clean environment in all areas to include the waiting room
  • Monitoring clinical areas for cleanliness and being proactive to remedy (i.e. debris on counters or floors, overflowing trash and /or linen bins)
  • Transport patients in, out or within the facility as requested by clinical staff in a manner specified by clinical staff (e.g. wheelchair, pedis or stretcher)
  • Assist all clinical and non-clinical staff within the ASC as assigned
  • Communicates patient information to assure confidentiality and continuity of care
  • Interacts with professional staff, patients, families, visitors, fellow employees in a mature, responsible manner to ensure a positive and professional facility environment
  • Diffuses/resolves conflict by appropriately communicating with those involved
