We are currently seeking an entry level engineer to design and build solar arrays for spacecraft at Lockheed Martin. This critical component includes program phases progressing from initial concept development through design, build, test, and flight. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of mechanical modeling tools, such as Solidworks/CREO and drafting.
  • Ability to work in a reciprocal and team-based environment.
  • Willingness to travel when required.
  • Must be a US Citizen to perform the task

Nice To Haves

  • Experience designing solar arrays.
  • Background in composite structures and mechanisms design
  • User of CREO CAD software.
  • Familiar with releasing drawings in EPDM.
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
  • Knowledge of Mechanical Design Principles including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Fundamental understanding of structures, mechanisms and materials
  • Desire to work with propulsion, structures, mechanisms, thermal, analysis and all things Lockheed Martin Space!

Responsibilities

  • Work under the direction of other engineers to research, design, analyze, and develop components, assemblies, and systems for Lockheed Martin Space products.
  • Participate in issue resolution and develop solutions to technical problems of varying complexity while assuring sound technical content and timely closure.
  • Develop, review, and maintain engineering documents, specifications, and technical analyses necessary to support product build and testing activities.
  • Generate and release drawings using CAD software.
  • Be a member of multiple integrated product teams, reciprocally interacting with other engineers, manufacturing personnel, suppliers, and customers.
  • Represent the organization in design reviews, readiness reviews, and review boards.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing personnel to supervise the build and test of the hardware in the production facility located next door to the engineering building.
