About The Position

The ASC Systems Engineer is responsible for providing hands-on IT support, technical coordination, and network connectivity services for Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASCs). This role serves as the primary ITS representative for the ASCs, supporting day-to-day technology needs, ensuring reliable connectivity for clinical and surgical systems, and coordinating with internal ITS teams, vendors, biomedical teams, and ASC leadership. This position requires a technically capable, service-oriented professional who understands the unique operational needs of a surgery center. The role combines field service, endpoint support, network troubleshooting, surgical equipment connectivity, vendor coordination, and clinical workflow awareness.

Requirements

  • Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Networking, or related field preferred
  • Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Microsoft, Cisco, or similar are preferred
  • 3 or more years of hands-on IT support, field service, desktop support, network support, or clinical technology support experience
  • Experience troubleshooting Windows workstations, printers, peripherals, mobile devices, and network connectivity
  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, wireless networking, cabling, and basic switch port troubleshooting
  • Experience supporting Ambulatory Surgery Centers, hospitals, clinics, or other healthcare environments
  • Experience connecting or supporting surgical, imaging, anesthesia, monitoring, or other clinical equipment
  • Familiarity with biomedical equipment workflows and vendor coordination
  • Experience with ITSM or ticketing systems such as ServiceNow, Zendesk, or similar platforms
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace, Active Directory, endpoint management tools, and remote support platforms
  • Ability to work directly with clinical staff, vendors, and technical teams in a fast-paced healthcare environment
  • Strong customer service, communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to travel to IBJI ASC locations as needed
  • Ability to work on-site in ASC environments including donning surgical PPE (including full sterile suit aka “bunny suit”)
  • Ability to lift, move, or install IT equipment as needed
  • Ability to access network closets, workstations, clinical areas, and equipment rooms
  • May require occasional after-hours or weekend work for planned maintenance, upgrades, go-lives, or urgent support
  • Stand or sit for extended periods of time

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary ITS point of contact for assigned Ambulatory Surgery Centers
  • Provide on-site and remote technical support for desktops, laptops, printers, scanners, mobile devices, phones, badge readers, AV equipment, and other end-user technologies
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, peripheral, and connectivity issues in a timely and professional manner
  • Support clinical and administrative systems used within the ASC environment
  • Ensure technology issues are documented, escalated, and resolved according to ITS standards
  • Assist with connecting surgical, imaging, anesthesia, monitoring, and other clinical equipment to the network
  • Coordinate with vendors, biomedical engineering, network teams, and security teams to ensure equipment communicates properly and securely
  • Support device configuration, IP addressing, VLAN assignment, connectivity testing, and basic network validation
  • Troubleshoot communication issues between surgical equipment, clinical systems, servers, and network infrastructure
  • Maintain awareness of clinical workflows and minimize disruption to patient care and surgical operations
  • Perform field-level troubleshooting of network connectivity, wireless coverage, switches, cabling, ports, and related infrastructure
  • Assist with installation, replacement, and validation of network-connected devices
  • Partner with network engineering teams to support ASC buildouts, upgrades, moves, expansions, and equipment changes
  • Validate that systems and devices are properly connected, labeled, documented, and functioning as expected
  • Support basic telecom, paging, and communication systems within ASC locations
  • Participate in ASC technology projects, including new site openings, renovations, system upgrades, and equipment implementations
  • Coordinate with third-party vendors for installs, service calls, testing, and troubleshooting
  • Ensure vendor-installed systems meet organizational IT standards for connectivity, security, documentation, and supportability
  • Provide technical input during planning discussions for ASC technology needs
  • Communicate project status, risks, and support needs to ITS leadership and ASC stakeholders
  • Maintain accurate documentation of ASC technology assets, network connections, device configurations, support procedures, and site-specific details.
  • Follow ITS standards for change management, cybersecurity, ticketing, asset management, and incident response.
  • Identify recurring issues and recommend improvements to increase reliability and support efficiency.
  • Support compliance with HIPAA, JCAHO, AAAHC, information security, and organizational technology policies.
