About The Position

Multnomah Athletic Club is seeking an enthusiastic Artistic Swimming Assistant Coach to join their team. This role is crucial in shaping the next generation of artistic swimmers by leading practices, choreographing routines, and traveling with athletes to competitions. The position fosters a culture of excellence, sportsmanship, and personal growth, and is ideal for a motivated, creative, and organized professional with a strong background in synchronized swimming and a commitment to athlete development. This is a full-time, fully on-site position.

Requirements

  • CPR and First Aid certifications.
  • CCP Level 1 certification or ability to obtain within 90 days.
  • Completion of concussion management training within 60 days.
  • Coaching member in good standing with USA Artistic Swimming.
  • Background in competitive artistic (synchronized) swimming.
  • Familiarity with platforms like TeamSnap, ISS, and common office software.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to build strong relationships with swimmers and families.
  • Proven ability to motivate and encourage athletes of varying skill levels.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with coaching staff and club members.
  • Able to meet the physical demands of coaching, including swimming, standing, and demonstrating techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Coach, inspire, and encourage swimmers toward competitive excellence.
  • Lead and monitor in-water and land-based training sessions for assigned squads.
  • Foster a positive, disciplined, and sportsmanlike environment for athletes.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with swimmers, parents, and staff via email, phone, and meetings.
  • Assist in tracking individual swimmer goals and monitoring progress.
  • Creatively choreograph routines as assigned by the Head Artistic Swimming Coach.
  • Edit music tracks for routines and performances.
  • Coordinate and accompany teams to competitions, managing logistics and athlete engagement.
  • Lead and support artistic swimming classes, clinics, and camps.
  • Organize meet entries, attendance, and results; coordinate MAC-hosted competitions.
  • Use ISS for coach cards and TeamSnap for scheduling and squad communication.
  • Promote participation in aquatics department programs and events.
  • Handle injuries, illnesses, and emergencies according to safety protocols.
  • Submit accurate expense reports and assist with equipment purchasing.
  • Attend staff meetings and assist in developing the annual competition schedule.
