This position involves planning and implementing a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, diverse backgrounds, and abilities of students. The teacher will assist in establishing department or grade-level curriculum objectives and developing a comprehensive plan for their implementation and evaluation. A key aspect of the role is creating a classroom environment conducive to learning, appropriate to the maturity and interests of students, and guiding the learning process towards curriculum goals. This includes setting clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects, and employing effective instructional methods and materials. The teacher will regularly assess student accomplishments, diagnose learning strengths and weaknesses, and provide progress reports. Collaboration with colleagues, students, and parents is expected, as is assisting administration in implementing policies governing student life and conduct. The role also involves developing and maintaining classroom behavior rules and procedures, supervising support personnel and volunteers, and utilizing appropriate technology. Accurate record-keeping and reporting are essential, as is adherence to the Code of Ethics of the Education Profession in Florida and school/District policies. Support for school improvement initiatives and recognizing/reporting student distress or abuse are also required. An appropriate testing environment and test security must be established.
