About The Position

One River School of Art + Design is seeking a practicing or highly engaged artist and passionate educator to teach contemporary art to students in grades K–12 and adults. The teacher leads hands-on weekly classes in a contemporary studio environment, helping learners experiment, develop confidence, and find their artistic voice. The school provides a designed curriculum, classroom materials, tools, and supplies, as well as a creative community and opportunities for career growth. The schedule includes weekday afternoons and evenings, Saturdays, and Sundays.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of teaching experience.
• Confidence working across multiple artistic mediums.
• Enthusiasm for working with children and nurturing their creative confidence.
• Warm, engaging, and student-centered approach.
• Thoughtful communication skills and appreciation for relationships with families and colleagues.
• Alignment with One River School’s mission to transform art education.
• BFA or BS in Art Education required.

Nice To Haves

• MFA or Master’s in Art Education.

Responsibilities

• Lead dynamic, hands-on weekly art classes for students.
• Explore contemporary approaches across painting, drawing, sculpture, collage, mixed media, and 3D work.
• Encourage experimentation, creative risk-taking, and imaginative thinking.
• Create experiences that build students’ confidence and artistic voice.
