About The Position

Provides security for patients, employees, and guests under established procedures and the supervision of the shift supervisor. Enforces company policies and procedures and performs assigned duties to protect patients, guests, and employees in a courteous and professional manner. The role follows Standard Operating Procedures and may include other related duties as required. The position is designated Team A Essential Personnel and must report for duty in the event of a disaster. The role requires maintaining awareness of applicable federal, state, and local laws, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements, and ensuring compliance. The employee must adapt communication and behavior to the patient population, including respecting privacy, introducing themselves appropriately, explaining services or procedures, requesting permission, and choosing an appropriate communication style. The position includes a $1,500 sign-on bonus, as reflected in the posting title.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
At least 1 year of security, law enforcement, or military experience.
Previous experience as, or current service as, an armed police officer with a Louisiana or federal law enforcement agency; reserve status is acceptable. Must have had arrest power and been assigned in an active law enforcement capacity.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
Completion of a Certified Police Officer Standard Training Policy Academy (state, federal, or military).
Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification or military police equivalent.
Valid Louisiana driver’s license and clean DMV report.
Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) and firearms training.
Must obtain International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) certification within 90 days of promotion or hire.
Must successfully complete the Field Training Officer (FTO) Program within the first 60 days of employment.
Computer skills and dexterity for data entry and information retrieval; proficiency with Windows-style applications, keyboard, and role-specific software.
Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present information clearly and professionally to people at varying levels.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including 24/7 availability, weekends, holidays, and on-call availability.
Must report for duty in the event of a disaster as Team A Essential Personnel.
Ability to meet the physical demands of Medium Work, including exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 10 to 25 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly.
Ability to work in a healthcare environment with potential exposure to communicable diseases, hazardous medications, or hazardous waste.

Responsibilities

Enforce company safety and security rules, regulations, and policies on company property.
Conduct routine inspections of on-site and off-site company locations.
Investigate assigned accidents and incidents and report occurrences in a timely manner.
Perform safety- and security-related duties in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures.
Participate in emergency response activities and preparedness drills.
Maintain required annual certifications and complete training within required time periods.
Adapt behavior and communication to the patient population, including respecting privacy, introducing oneself appropriately, explaining services or procedures, requesting permission, and communicating appropriately.
Remain knowledgeable about applicable laws, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements, and ensure compliance.
Report known or suspected unethical or questionable conduct and patient/employee safety, privacy, or other compliance-related concerns.
Report for duty during a disaster as Team A Essential Personnel.
Perform other related duties as required.
