Armed Security Guard - Dayton, OH
About The Position
Sahara Global Security is seeking vigilant and reliable Armed Security Guards to help maintain safe and secure environments for clients, employees, and visitors in the Dayton and Springfield, Ohio areas. The role involves protecting facilities and property, monitoring surveillance and access points, responding to incidents, and helping prevent losses and damage. Guards are expected to act professionally, communicate effectively with teammates, and interact courteously and neutrally with people from diverse backgrounds. This is an in-person position based out of Dayton, Ohio, reporting to Sahara Global Security personnel at the Dayton Field Office. Applicants must supply their own duty equipment and have a valid OPOTA certificate at the time of hire. Sahara Global Security is a Columbus-based, veteran-owned security provider that offers staff development and training opportunities.
Requirements
- Valid OPOTA certificate at the time of hire.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 2 years of security experience.
- At least 2 years of customer service experience.
- Valid driver's license.
- Applicants must supply their own duty equipment.
- Must relocate to Dayton, Ohio before starting work.
Nice To Haves
- At least 1 year of law enforcement experience.
- At least 4 years of military experience.
Responsibilities
- Secure facilities and property through observation and inspections.
- Monitor surveillance equipment and access control points; permit or deny entry to premises.
- Sound facility alarms to alert others when assistance is needed.
- Prevent losses and damage, report irregularities, inform violators of policies and procedures, and restrain trespassers.
- Direct drivers to control traffic.
- Write reports, maintain activity logs, and record observations, information, and surveillance activity.
- Interview witnesses.
- Conduct oneself professionally, courteously, and neutrally with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Comply with all legal requirements.
- Communicate, deconflict, share ideas, and complement teammates’ efforts.
- De-escalate volatile situations and protect vulnerable people from physical and non-physical threats.
- Contribute to a safe and secure work environment.
