About The Position
Coastal Security Services, Inc. (CSSI) is seeking a full-time Armed Campus Security Officer to provide security at K-12 school campuses in the Bluffton, SC area. The role involves maintaining a safe and secure learning environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. This position requires a professional, alert, and composed individual who understands the unique responsibilities of protecting a school environment. CSSI has been a trusted name in professional security since 2006, licensed in South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida, offering a range of security solutions. They invest in their people by providing hands-on training through their in-house Academy, which exceeds state requirements.
Requirements
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Valid SC SLED Armed Security Officer Registration (required — this is an armed position)
- Clean criminal background — must pass SLED background check and additional school district screening
- Valid driver's license and reliable personal transportation
- Must reside in or be willing to commute to the Bluffton, SC area
- Availability to work Monday through Friday during school hours
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Professional demeanor and composure under pressure
- Ability to stand/walk for extended periods and perform foot patrols
- High school diploma or GED
Nice To Haves
- Prior law enforcement, military, or armed security experience
- School or campus security experience
- Current CPR/First Aid/AED certification
- Crisis intervention or de-escalation training
- Familiarity with access control systems, CCTV, and incident reporting
Responsibilities
- Provide armed security coverage at assigned K-12 campus(es)
- Monitor access points and control entry to school buildings and grounds
- Conduct foot and vehicle patrols of buildings, parking areas, and perimeters
- Respond to calls as needed
- Monitor CCTV and alarm systems as applicable
- Maintain accurate daily activity reports and incident documentation
- Serve as a visible deterrent and professional security presence

- Overtime is paid at 1.5x for all hours over 40 in a work week.
