About The Position

The Area Visual Merchandise Manager is responsible for traveling to stores within their assigned Zone to lead and implement visual merchandising standards and guidelines that align with the company's overall standards and directives. This role involves planning, implementing, communicating, and training visual and merchandising associates on tasks such as dressing mannequins, forms, signage, accent lighting, fixturing, and the execution of visual directives and collateral to ensure consistent presentation across all stores.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required
  • Minimum of two years experience in Visual Merchandising or retail management
  • Ability to effectively communicate with customers, co-workers, management, and corporate personnel.
  • Ability to supervise, direct, and motivate associates.
  • Ability to present merchandise in a knowledgeable, creative, and appealing manner.
  • Knowledge of fashion trends, styles, and colors.
  • Eye for detail and color coordination.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Basic knowledge of tools and measuring devices.
  • Must be able to lift between up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work at heights.
  • Ability to lift and carry props.
  • Ability to assemble displays and hang signage at elevated heights.
  • Ability to operate a computer.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise store management on the communication and implementation of visual issues, including adjacencies, visual set-ups, shop installations, promotions, and special events.
  • Train, develop, direct, and oversee visual staff members (VM Associates).
  • Supervise, plan, and implement seasonal visual collateral with Store Managers (SM).
  • Collaborate with SM, Assistant Store Managers (ASM's), Master Team Members (MTM's), Master Team Leads (MTL's), and Visual Merchandisers (VM's) to ensure daily standards are executed and maintained.
  • Participate in weekly store walk-throughs with Store Managers and attend Weekly Leadership Plan (WLP) meetings.
  • Oversee and maintain all mannequins, forms, vendor identification, and collateral according to corporate merchandising directives.
  • Coordinate, manage inventory, and ensure proper storage of all seasonal trim and collateral to prevent damage.
  • Work with Store Managers and the Operations team to secure appropriate space for visual merchandising elements.
  • Oversee the planning, coordination, and installation of Cosmetic collateral based on the Corporate Cosmetic Calendar and individual store setups.
  • Maintain and inventory all cosmetic collateral to ensure proper storage and prevent damage.
  • Work with Store Managers and Operations to oversee, adjust, and target accent lighting to complement visual displays.
  • Manage, maintain, and organize the stockroom for visual items.
  • Follow corporate procedures for merchandise borrowed from department stock for visual displays.
  • Manage and maintain accurate records.
  • Travel to assigned stores on a pre-planned schedule (3 days/week) to review the implementation of seasonal strategies, shops, visual impacts, trend directives, and promotional setups.
  • Supervise and oversee specific stores to maintain the integrity of corporate visual directives and their implementation.
  • Train and supervise less experienced visual and merchandising associates in planning and installing visual directives.
  • Train visual and merchandising associates on the proper usage of tools.
  • Review and direct visual and merchandising associates and store managers in planning and installing visual directives for quality implementation.
  • Oversee and follow up on vendor and in-store shop installations, reporting any issues to corporate visual.
  • Maintain open communication with Store Managers, Regional Vice Presidents, and Zone Group Vice Presidents through weekly/monthly conference calls, emails, and follow-up calls.
  • Interview, evaluate, and recommend visual candidates.
  • Suggest merchandise presentation ideas as necessary.
  • Inform stores within the Zone of upcoming promotional and visual impacts as directed by corporate.
  • Assist in special events and in-store promotions as directed.
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned.
  • Assist in new store openings, remodels, prototypes, and special projects as directed.
  • Travel weekly to assigned stores to ensure implementation of the above responsibilities.
