The Area Vice President, Emergency Medicine serves as a key member of the Area’s senior management team and leadership table, providing visionary leadership and fostering a common vision for the NSL (likely referring to a specific service line or network). This role acts as an NSL representative for Division and Area(s) initiatives, focusing on areas such as access, teammate engagement, patient experience, and quality. The position involves collaborating with leadership to vet and prioritize initiatives, modeling financial impacts, and leading monthly operational performance reviews. The Area Vice President develops and implements annual business plans, growth strategies, and operational objectives, overseeing both ambulatory and inpatient services to ensure high standards of clinical quality, patient safety, and operational efficiency. This role is responsible for building effective teams, fostering collaboration, influencing stakeholders, and supporting institutional program planning. Integration and optimization of NSL operations, representation in local and state forums, and coordination with physician co-leaders are also key aspects. The position directly manages administrative service line leaders, leads workforce strategy, and fosters a culture of engagement and accountability. Ensuring compliance with policies, improving employee experience, and collaborating on budget preparation are critical. The role identifies value capture and efficiency opportunities, monitors financial, quality, and operational metrics, champions quality improvement and patient safety, and enhances patient experience. Support for new programs, continuous quality improvement, marketing collaboration, and the academic mission (research, education, innovation) are also included.
