About The Position

The Area Route Manager is responsible for the creation, implementation, training, and facilitation of Route Strategy, and Route Optimization initiatives. This role involves working closely with operational leadership to identify divisions with significant routing opportunities, providing project management for complex routing initiatives, and partnering with Area Operations Managers to implement route improvements and enhance customer satisfaction. The manager will also oversee the Route Editor process, provide training to dispatchers and supervisors on route capability concerns, and assess divisional leadership in evaluating compliance and meeting goals. This position requires a strong ability to provide process direction, guidance, and motivational leadership for sustainable change management, along with metrics reporting and reconciliation. The role involves significant travel across the operational footprint.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership and project management experience in route technology, auditing, and editing.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

  • RISE & InfoPro experience strongly preferred
  • Thorough understanding of basic routing, dispatch, auditing, and customer initiatives.
  • Prior waste industry or service industry experience.

Responsibilities

  • Works closely with Area Director of Operations Support and Area Collections Manager to identify priority Divisions with significant routing opportunities.
  • Provides project management leadership on complex routing initiatives.
  • Partners with Area Operations Managers to implement route improvements and/or enhancements.
  • Partners with Area Operations Managers to improve Customer Zeal.
  • Manages and supports the Route Editor process by aiding with training, the development of productivity goals, route standards, and follow through on the effectiveness of the routing process.
  • Provides supplemental training, as needed, to Dispatchers and Supervisors on route capability concerns such as tracking, entering metrics, and other key data.
  • Assesses and supports Divisional leadership in evaluating compliance and meeting established goals; ensures effective closure of outstanding route improvement opportunities identified during audit.
  • Provides process direction, guidance, and motivational leadership to bring about sustainable change management.
  • Provides metrics reporting and reconciliation as needed.
  • Travels up to 60% of the time across Area operational footprint.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned or apparent.
