About The Position

Under the general direction of the Maintenance Manager, you will oversee the activities of the distribution center's Maintenance staff. You will maintain the acceptable performance of all mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment associated with production equipment, material handling equipment and Fleet vehicles. Additional responsibilities include managing all special projects, and special event support. This position is required to respond to emergencies on a 24‑hour, as‑needed basis. This role is onsite and will require you to work from our Suffolk, VA daily. Relocation assistance is not available for this role. Shift Days: Sunday - Thursday Shift Time: 4:00 PM - 12:30 AM

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelors or Trade school degree and a master level skill in a relevant trade with any applicable licensing.
  • Experience: 5 or more years of experience in a mechanical trade.
  • Have displayed 3+ year's previously demonstrated leadership capabilities in a related trade environment.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, schedules, directs staff under the direction of the Maintenance Manager and manages external contractors in the maintenance of site production equipment.
  • Help develop an operating budget to ensure that such maintenance is carried out on a cost-effective basis.
  • Maintain and help develop department personnel and help grow department personnel.
  • Perform monthly 1:1's, PEDP's, personnel evaluations, safety toolbox talks, Safety training, and conducts monthly department meetings on time.
  • Assist Maintenance Manager in the development of short- and long-term goals for the department with corporate management and works to implement strategies to attain goals.
  • Maintain labor and OT to budgetary constraints.
  • Manage staff efficiency, using computer software, developing department guidelines and procedures.
  • Update and improve efficiency and response time to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Manage equipment and related services, and prevent any possible problems or defects that may occur to provide an uninterrupted 24 hour/ 7days a week operation.
  • Manage contracts and their performance, and value, to provide an acceptable level completeness.
  • Participate in projects (capital and expense), facility requests, PM's, and special events.
  • Responding to critical company needs and requests.
  • Oversee the entire staff (or a portion of) the site maintenance staff.
  • Help with interviews, hire, evaluate, counsels, and develop maintenance personnel.
  • Provide training and develop the skills of the staff.
  • Provide coaching and support to personnel by reviewing performance and providing feedback.
  • Provide a safe and healthy environment for employees to work in.
  • Monitor, provides guidance, and supports the site Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) by providing reports summarizing scope of activities.
  • Be a direct back-up to the Maintenance Manager when absent.
