About The Position

As an Area Manager, you will be responsible for the overall coordination and implementation of high-quality traffic control services. This role involves maintaining traffic control operations, ensuring productivity, efficiency, safety, supervising field staff, and developing and maintaining excellent working relationships with clients and customers.

Requirements

  • Construction industry experience preferred.
  • Previous traffic control experience is considered an asset.
  • Minimum 2 years construction management experience required, or equivalent work experience.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and prioritization skills with the ability to multi-task and effectively meet deadlines.
  • Experience in addressing conduct and performance issues with geographically dispersed field employees.
  • Well versed in all safety regulations as it relates to traffic management, its service, and facility.
  • Valid WorkSafeBC Traffic Control Person ticket considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Operations Manager (OM) and General Manager (GM), Dispatch, Traffic Support Services, and Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) to coordinate schedules, distribute work efficiently, and address relief needs.
  • Manage and develop client relationships in partnership with the OM, GM, and Director of Traffic Services.
  • Supervise and direct traffic employees in Dispatch, Fleet, and on-site requirements.
  • Continuously providing support and guidance to our field staff (LCTs & TCPs)
  • Ensure field staff comply with regulations, company standards, and policies through education and training.
  • Address the assigned portfolio of clients and employee inquiries via phone and email, including staffing, safety concerns, and complaints.
  • Investigate and address complaints from clients, the public, and employees, reporting major incidents. This should be completed in collaboration with Human Resources and involve the employee’s union representative, where applicable
  • Collaborate with Fleet, Rentals and Facilities departments to maintain proper inventory and supply of fleet vehicles for new LCTs.
  • Analyze field staff utilization and address non-supply issues.
  • Assist HR, OM GM, and Director with manpower forecasting, planning, and deployment.
  • Attend and actively participate in scheduled meetings
  • Work with HR on recruiting, retention, labor relations, and compliance with collective agreements.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety policies, procedures, and practices in collaboration with OHS.
  • Unique reporting for assigned client groups.
  • Site visits for contractor consultations.
  • Annual goal setting, in support of the company's values, as well as growth and personal targets.
