About The Position

The Penny Ice Creamery Area Manager actively leads, defines, manages, and coordinates sales and operations, facilitating all activities for The Penny Ice Creamery locations in Santa Cruz County and Santa Clara County, as well as all catering operations in those areas. This hands-on position ensures the highest quality of customer service and products, and consistently upholds and models our standards of excellence. The Penny Ice Creamery Area Manager strategically executes the requirements of this position through agreed upon and defined goals and objectives. They ensure profitability by maintaining a first-class customer experience while balancing variable and operational costs. They work closely with The Glass Jar management team at every level. They work closely with employees of each Penny location, and the events team, to ensure a quality guest experience. The Penny Ice Creamery Area Manager maintains a regular hands-on presence at all Penny Ice Creamery locations (i.e. six Penny locations) to ensure successful implementation of strategic initiatives and upkeep of brand standards. They bring their passion for guiding, coaching, and mentoring each day to inspire our teams and continuously generate peak performance across the board. They reinforce and contribute to our culture of excellence, growth, and accountability. The ideal candidate for this role possesses a penchant for leadership and is a systems thinker; they confidently understand the interconnection of a multi-unit business operation, and can maintain that intricate system. This individual demonstrates a proficiency in execution, and is comfortable taking theoretical strategic initiatives and implementing them in reality through meticulous planning, execution, and follow-through. They are highly organized, and able to keep tabs on multiple projects, tasks, or issues simultaneously from start to finish.

Requirements

Ability to work 40+ hours a week consistently.
Ability to work late nights (as late as 11:30PM), weekends and holidays.
Demonstrated success and desire to work in and lead a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
Management experience in a food service establishment.
Reliable transportation.
Skills in creative and rational problem solving, prioritizing, and effective leadership that aligns with our work culture.
Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to give and receive feedback professionally.
Other soft skill competencies include emotional intelligence, active listening, compassion, adaptability.
Demonstrated proficiency in business acumen and critical thinking.
An aptitude for logistics, coordination, and project management.
