Requirements

  • Experience working with the cleaning equipment and chemicals used in hospitals and healthcare centers
  • Experience in a supervisory role
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of municipal government administration, operations, and management; methods and techniques of research and report presentation.
  • Knowledge of State and federally mandated laws, guidelines, and regulations regarding solid waste management.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret technical and numerical information.
  • Ability to observe and solve operational and technical problems.
  • Ability to develop policies and procedures.
  • Ability to understand and interpret complex rules and procedures; research, analyze, and recommend solutions to administrative and other management problems.
  • Ability to analyze budgets, reports, and various proposals.
  • Ability to determine an effective method of research.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the performance of required duties.

Responsibilities

  • Establishes standards and work procedures for housekeeping staff in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
  • Plans work schedules and assigns staff, hours, and work areas to ensure adequate coverage throughout the hospital.
  • Trains, supervises, and evaluates housekeeping personnel.
  • Conducts inspections of hospital facilities and recommends repairs, painting, furnishing updates, equipment relocation, and space reallocation to improve sanitation, appearance, and operational efficiency.
  • Identifies and reports unsafe conditions and follows up as appropriate.
  • Researches, evaluates, and recommends new housekeeping equipment and supplies.
  • Prepares budgets, reports, and other administrative documentation.
  • Maintains inventory of housekeeping supplies and equipment and coordinates the procurement of new or replacement items.
