About The Position

This is a full-time, year-round position responsible for maintaining and repairing equipment and facilities at a ski area. The role involves a variety of tasks including kitchen equipment, heating and ventilating systems, plumbing, fire protection systems, and elevator maintenance. The specialist will also work with state inspectors, monitor water and wastewater plants, and may assist guests outdoors. Safety and guest experience are top priorities.

Requirements

  • Proven skills and experience in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing maintenance and repairs.
  • Experience with and knowledge of various facilities structures, concepts, and repair and maintenance techniques.
  • Possession of (or ability to obtain) a valid Colorado Driver's License, with an acceptable driving record.
  • Experience with work order systems and documentation.
  • Critical thinking, problem-solving, and the ability to troubleshoot effectively.
  • Ability to handle fast-paced, potentially high-pressure work environment.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated with effective time-management, able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to appropriately manage others’ needs and expectations, and to communicate clearly and consistently.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in English - speak and understand verbal and written communications.
  • Moderate skill with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel.
  • Ability to work at high altitude, and outdoors in extreme weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to push/pull up to 100 pounds.
  • Must be able to work weekends, holidays during the Winter Season.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with refrigeration and CFC Certification.
  • Intermediate or better ski or snowboard ability.
  • Ability to safely operate a snowmobile.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining and repairing existing electrical, mechanical, and general facilities and equipment.
  • Performing daily checks of building mechanicals.
  • Maintaining and repairing kitchen equipment, including refrigeration, ovens, and steam kettles.
  • Performing daily rounds-check on boilers, sprinkler systems, fire pump room, and fire panels.
  • Performing routine maintenance and operations of the physical structure of the property, all mechanical, electrical, boilers, snowmelt, ventilation, and related equipment.
  • Ensuring inspections and certifications for property equipment are completed as required.
  • Working with outside contractors as needed.
  • Maintaining accurate records of all work activities using a work order system.
  • Monitoring supplies and filling out requisitions for supplies.
  • Occasionally accessing on-mountain facilities via ski/snowboard or snowmobile.
  • Responsible for the safe disposal of all waste materials generated during repairs and maintenance.
  • Maintaining tools and equipment and keeping the work area safe, secure, and efficient.
  • Supporting the broader Area Maintenance Team, including assisting with parking cars, snow removal, general maintenance, and inspections.
  • Overseeing compliance regarding fire protection systems.
  • Overseeing elevator maintenance contractors and performing monthly inspections.
  • Working with state inspectors to facilitate bi-annual boiler inspections.
  • Assisting in monitoring equipment and conditions at water and wastewater plants.
  • Working outdoors with guests when needed.
  • Providing a positive experience for guests and employees.
