About The Position

This role involves assisting department management in the supervision and training of maintenance personnel, scheduling labor resources, and advising management on technical or personnel issues. The position also plays a key role in ensuring safe conditions, proper maintenance documentation, developing cost justifications for projects, streamlining preventative maintenance programs, and collaborating with other departments for improvements. Effective communication, analytical reasoning, and problem-solving skills are essential.

Requirements

  • Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Able to access any area in and around the facility including narrow passageways and layout of expansive operations to access production equipment.
  • Able to ascend or descend stairs in multi-level facilities.
  • Able to move and/or lift up to 30 pounds with a hoist, pallet-jack or cart.
  • Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, in English.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and vocational education (electrical or mechanical); or at least 10 years’ experience in “hands on” maintenance of machinery in production operations.
  • Must have basic math skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Legible record-keeping and data entry skills using a computer.
  • Must be highly motivated, flexible, have creative problem-solving abilities, and able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Bi-lingual is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist department management in the supervision and training of maintenance personnel.
  • Schedule weekly/daily labor resources for the maintenance department to meet management requirements.
  • Advise department manager and regularly provide information related to any and all technical or personnel issues that occurred on the shift.
  • Assist department management in securing safe conditions and proper maintenance, including documentation, in accordance with plant GMP’s, SOP’s, OSHA, and SQF requirements.
  • Develop cost and capital spending justification for plant related projects.
  • Streamline and maintain a comprehensive preventative maintenance program.
  • Work with other departments to develop improvements.
  • Communicate proactively and effectively with other departments and management.
  • Ability to use analytical reasoning and good problem-solving skills to resolve issues.
