About The Position

This unique dual-role opportunity is ideal for a hands-on leader who thrives in both operational excellence and new hotel development. The Expedition Lodge is a highly experiential, adventure-driven property in the heart of Estes Park, designed to connect guests with the spirit of the Rockies through curated experiences, rustic lodge-style design, and strong guest engagement. The primary focus for the first ~18 months will be to lead and operate the Expedition Lodge, driving financial performance, guest satisfaction, and team development. Concurrently, this leader will partner with ownership and corporate teams to support the pre-opening efforts of the Homewood Suites (Elkhorn Lodge), including hiring strategy, operational planning, and brand readiness. This role offers a rare opportunity to stabilize and elevate an existing lifestyle property while playing a key leadership role in bringing a new hotel to market. We are seeking a dynamic Area General Manager to lead operations for the Expedition Lodge Estes Park and support the development of the Homewood Suites (Elkhorn Lodge) Estes Park. The General Manager is responsible for all aspects of hotel operations, including guest and employee satisfaction, financial performance, cost control, and sales and revenue generation. This role requires providing strategic planning and leadership across all departments to support a positive service culture and maximize operations. The General Manager ensures the implementation of Vista Host and brand strategies to meet or exceed guest expectations and fosters relationships with key customers.

Requirements

  • Proven ability to drive guest satisfaction, motivate teams, and maintain accountability.
  • Strong understanding of hotel KPIs and financial metrics (Occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, GOP, CPOR, etc.), with the ability to translate data into actionable strategies.
  • Familiarity with basic hotel accounting processes (Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Cash Reconciliation, General Ledger, P&L Statements, etc.).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, with the ability to manage and manipulate data.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to inspire and lead.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively, both written and verbally.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Must be able to move throughout the building, bend, stoop, and reach to assist staff in completing tasks as needed, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all hotel operations in accordance with the organizational chart, ensuring compliance with SOPs, policies, and service standards.
  • Lead initiatives related to capital projects, renovations, brand enhancements, and customer service improvements.
  • Manage the hotel’s profitability, ensuring that revenue and guest satisfaction targets are met or exceeded.
  • Make decisions that align with the best interests of the hotel ownership and set both short- and long-term strategic goals for the property.
  • Implement improvement actions and cost-saving measures.
  • Analyze P&L statements and business reports, implementing strategies to enhance financial performance.
  • Maximize room yield and revenue through effective sales practices and yield management programs.
  • Manage procurement of supplies and equipment, negotiating contracts with vendors for essential services.
  • Address guest complaints, ensuring effective service recovery procedures.
  • Conduct regular briefings and meetings with department heads.
  • Lead the hiring and development of key staff members, focusing on career progression and team effectiveness.
  • Provide continuous coaching and leadership to the hotel team, driving results.
  • Respond to audits and implement improvements for continual growth.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
