About The Position

The Area Field Manager actively promotes the U-Haul brand and educates independent business partners and leaders about the benefits of becoming a U-Haul dealer. The role manages a designated route, developing relationships with small-business owners and dealerships, growing dealership activity, and supporting operational excellence. The work includes travel along the route and use of a U-Haul service vehicle to distribute equipment, maintain equipment and displays, and support local dealerships. The position requires a valid driver’s license and a good driving record, a high school diploma or equivalent, the ability to obtain a D.O.T. health certificate from a federally registered medical examiner, and that the applicant be at least 18. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and must not require employer sponsorship. In Alabama, U-Haul will not hire or re-hire individuals who use nicotine products. The work environment may involve moderate risks or discomforts, including moving parts, machines, fumes, or irritant chemicals, and may require protective gear. Physical demands include extended periods indoors and outdoors, remaining stationary, moving through spaces, repositioning to reach and use tools, and moving at least 50 pounds with or without assistance. Requirements

Valid driver’s license and ability to maintain a good driving record to operate commercial motor vehicles.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to obtain a D.O.T. health certificate from a federally registered medical examiner.
Must be at least 18 years old.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and must not require employer sponsorship.
In Alabama, applicants who use nicotine products are ineligible for hire or rehire.
Ability to move at least 50 pounds, with or without assistance.

Responsibilities

Prospect, open, and grow U-Haul dealerships among small businesses along the designated route.
Develop and manage business relationships with small-business owners and U-Haul dealerships, sharing professional insight into local markets and training and educating dealers on potential growth.
Manage route profit and loss through careful analysis and grow the route’s transactions by providing products and services to the communities served.
Service and maintain U-Haul equipment and displays to support operational excellence and marketability.
Work with support staff to support the success and efficiency of dealerships on the route.
Operate a properly stocked and maintained U-Haul service vehicle to distribute equipment throughout the route.
Perform minor repairs and maintenance on U-Haul equipment.
Arrange for the recovery of lost, stolen, or abandoned U-Haul equipment.
Participate in ongoing U-Haul education through U-Haul University.
