Area Director of Sales – Florida SUMMARY: This is an on-site position. The Area Director of Sales will oversee and manage all sales efforts for a designated cluster of Hotels within a specific region. This position is responsible for promoting their portfolio, as well as the brand. This individual will possess a proven record of strong leadership and success within the hospitality industry, a collaborative spirit, organizational skills, strategic planning, and accountability. They will demonstrate a thorough knowledge of their Hotel’s, the destination, and the competitive set. This is an individual who is flexible to change, innovative, takes initiative, and demonstrates good decision-making and problem-solving skills. JOB DESCRIPTION: Duties include, but are not limited to: Lead, mentor, and continually train a team of sales professionals and support staff, and foster a healthy and productive work environment. Responsible for recruiting, hiring, and onboarding new associates for open positions within the sales department. Build and Maintain strong relationships within the Hospitality Industry. Collaborate with state and local convention and visitor bureaus, government, and represent their region at industry events; open to travel as needed. Recognize and Analyze trends in the industry, and respond accordingly by creating and implementing action plans to drive more business to each hotel within the region. Monitor progress regularly. Provide reporting recapping the previous month’s performance and forecasting the next 90 days. Cover a specific sales territory or vertical market and be pro-active in penetrating accounts. Write annual group budgets for all hotels within the region, and achieve budgeted revenue. Work directly with operations team, events team, revenue management, and corporate office to collaborate on strategies and initiatives within the region and company-wide. Write and implement Booking Goals for each sales manager and for themselves. Assist in developing rates, group ceilings and sales deployment strategies through review of competitive data, demand analysis and business-mix management. Actively participate in sales presentations, property tours, and customer meetings to close business. Conduct weekly one-on-one meetings with each sales manager to assess progress and maintain productivity. Develop fluent knowledge of all CRM systems, Property Management Systems, and all other technology associated with the sales department. Attend revenue strategy meetings, and continually collaborate with revenue team to yield revenue and occupancy through group business and business travel. Attend weekly Director’ meeting to collaborate state and company-wide; fostering communication and encouraging cross-selling between sister properties.
