About The Position

This role is the top commercial position overseeing two resorts: InterContinental Dominica and Six Senses Grenada, with InterContinental Grenada opening in Q3 of 2026. The Area Director will develop and implement strategies to achieve revenue and room night sales goals, set sales and marketing strategies, create and implement tactical plans, and monitor results. The position requires leadership in deploying sales and marketing colleagues, developing the team through training and coaching, assigning performance goals, fostering a positive working environment, and building relationships with key clients and stakeholders. Strategic planning involves leading the commercial plan, analyzing growth opportunities, and developing sales strategies to maximize revenue across seasons. Cluster sales management includes developing travel and trade show plans, coordinating with global sales teams, monitoring sales performance, and nurturing a proactive sales culture. Financial management includes preparing departmental budgets, creating commercial plans to drive occupancy and revenue, and producing monthly reports and sales forecasts. The role also involves creating programming to drive incremental revenues, communicating special needs for VIPs and key guests, and leading marketing efforts to upsell guests. Responsible business practices include working with local leaders for hotel exposure, marketing sustainable aspects of the hotel, managing advertising investments, raising brand awareness, and identifying improvements in marketing and sales performance. Ad-hoc duties may also be required.

Requirements

  • Required qualifications, technical skills, and experience in a similar role in luxury hotels with proven results.
  • Five or more years of experience in a senior sales and marketing role.
  • Experience in managing a remote team(s); dual property experience is ideal.
  • Strong knowledge of the Caribbean market and business trends preferred.
  • Technical skills include Advanced MS Office and familiarity with various property systems.

  • Develop and execute strategy with digital marketing and PR partners to maximize awareness, interest, and realized revenues for the resorts.
  • Develop a comprehensive travel and trade show plan to maximize coverage and impact.
  • Work closely with Luxury Lifestyle Global Sales to coordinate sales plans.
  • Monitor sales deployment and performance of the sales team.
  • Nurture a proactive sales culture and an effective prospecting program.

  • Work with advertising agencies, consulting firms, and vendors to maximize advertising investments and ensure ads represent brand identity.
  • Raise the awareness and reputation of your hotel and the brand locally – occasionally acting as hotel representative for media-related inquiry.
  • Identify improvements to marketing activities and overall hotel sales performance and work with other departments.
  • Ad-hoc duties – unexpected moments when we must pull together to get a task done.
