The Area Director - Facilities Operations is responsible for directing and overseeing the safe and compliant planning, operation, repair, maintenance, and testing of various facility systems including heating/cooling, power plant, electrical, emergency power, fire protection, plumbing, grounds, and carpentry within assigned area/market sites. This role involves managing departmental operating expense budgets, developing capital infrastructure budgets (short-term and long-term), and ensuring approved capital projects are maintained within budget. The Area Director collaborates with Planning, Design, and Construction to ensure project specifications are met and works with site and system leaders to plan facility operational and maintenance needs, researching new products, laws, and regulations. A key responsibility is overseeing a computer maintenance management system (CMMS) and ensuring an effective preventive maintenance program. The role also collaborates with the Energy Management Team on hospital energy plans, sustainability programs, and utility tracking, and drives continuous improvement and innovation for operational efficiency and sustainability. Regulatory compliance for federal, state, and local ordinances and building codes is critical, as is collaborating with Site Facilities Managers and Safety to oversee safety, environment of care, and emergency preparedness programs. The Area Director is responsible for master planning of utility infrastructure, analyzing facility data, and recommending priorities for repairs and renovations. Additionally, this role performs human resources responsibilities for staff, including interviewing, selection, staff development, performance evaluations, and employee relations. The Area Director must understand and adhere to the organization's Code of Ethical Conduct and provide leadership for a facilities training program and succession planning. They will design and direct the work of their assigned areas, select, coach, and develop teams, set objectives, manage talent through performance management, and develop/recommend operating and capital budgets.
