About The Position

The Area Director of Clinical Operations & Engagement oversees the clinical care and business operations for a localized population of patients and provides direct management of the clinical members of that care team. Core functions are to enhance the performance of the entire team through facilitating the work of the various members in the areas of clinical performance and quality, patient satisfaction, compliance with Eventus clinical protocols, processes and procedures, and achievement of productivity expectations as measured by patients receiving needed services. Qualified candidates may come from a clinical background or from a healthcare business/operations background with substantial long-term care experience. Three areas of responsibility include: (1) Team Leadership/Supervision, (2) Care Team Clinical Integration, and (3) Clinical Services.

Requirements

Previous or current long-term care experience required.
Healthcare operations, practice management, or multi-site business operations experience strongly preferred.
Experience with budget management, productivity metrics, and payor or reimbursement dynamics a plus.
Experience leading integrated healthcare teams a plus.
Demonstrated experience with an Electronic Health Record (EMR) and/or practice management system.
Excellent PC skills required.
Strong leadership skills and the ability to effectively coach, motivate, and develop others.
Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communications skills, with the ability to bring individuals together.
Ability to work collaboratively and coordinate care with a multi-disciplinary team.
Ability to effectively handle multiple priorities.
Possess outstanding organization skills and an ability to multi-task while maintaining a customer focus.
Demonstrate creativity, problem-solving, adaptability, and flexibility.
Knowledge of HIPAA privacy laws.
Must possess an understanding and adherence of legal and regulatory agency rules and guidelines.
Drive to help patients and staff with tact and diplomacy.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in verbal and written form.
Strong communication skills and a customer service attitude.
Must be able to frequently communicate with facilities and patients and/or with others about patient or provider requirements, complaints, and common inquiries.

Nice To Haves

Clinical Masters or Doctoral Degree, or a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field combined with substantial healthcare operations experience.
National certification for area of specialty (required for clinically licensed candidates).
Unrestricted license in area of specialty within the state of practice (required for clinically licensed candidates).

Responsibilities

Oversee the clinical performance and achievement of productivity expectations of Care Team members.
Foster an engaging culture among all teammates.
Manage adherence to established and documented Eventus clinical standards, processes and procedures as written by specialty specific clinical directors.
Receive and react to clinical quality data reports.
Regularly review documentation and coding of all care team members to ensure compliance and quality.
Receive and analyze clinical quality data and provider productivity reports; reacting and counseling team members, as needed, to maintain standards.
Handle general practice clinical questions.
Collaborate with collaborating physicians, clinical leaders, and/or director of clinical services, when specialty specific guidance is needed.
Act as clinical and workflow expert for providers within the team and help facilitate the resolution of clinical inquiries from providers, facility personnel, and family members.
Regularly visit on site with care team members to observe and optimize clinical skills and workflow.
Partner to create an environment of clear responsibility, authority, autonomy, and accountability that energizes and encourages staff to perform at their personal best.
Manage care team members as assigned.
Ensure providers are performing clinical duties including caring for all assigned patients.
Receive reports on provider productivity and react as needed to maintain standards.
Work to resolve clinical management issues such as attendance, documentation, adherence to clinical policies and procedures, and all clinical duties.
Collaborate with the care team administration and regional business operators to ensure clinical and business KPI’s are met.
Ensure that all patients in your care team receive the services they need.
Track the caseloads in each building and monitor for adherence to best practices for medically necessary visits.
Work to assign providers to facilities/patients to be sure that all services are covered for each building based on those contracted.
Monitor for any absences in coverage for reasons such as PTO, resignations, relocations, or territory realignment and ensure other coverage is found.
Perform or coordinate clinical coverage to ensure that gaps in coverage do not exist to provide continuity of care.
Assist in growth of the team though hiring and recruiting.
Monitor territory of providers, work with CTC to track monthly all of a providers’ territories, caseload, and schedule.
Manage and own provider turnover to build a reliable culture of your team.
Be aware of any providers with modeled capacity or interest in additional work.
Work with business development on starting new buildings promptly.
Assist with interview process and coordination of remote and field interview with clinical experts for the open position.
Assist with non-specialty specific education and training and onboarding of new providers.
Maintain a customer service focus and assist with problem-solving of facility issues.
Maintain active knowledge of leadership at all team facilities.
Visit all facilities in team quarterly.
Be available as first call from facilities for any concerns they are having.
Work between the facility and your clinical team or Eventus internal support to determine a resolution.
Communicate resolution back to the facility.
Own facility satisfaction as a critical performance outcome.
Ensure strong facility presence, responsiveness, and consistent service delivery.
Ensure team cohesion through communication, setting expectations, and leading regular team meetings.
Promote interdisciplinary collaboration through coordination with all service lines.
Encourage cohesion of workflow and clinical issues for process improvement and provider satisfaction.
Keep team informed of all recommendations for process improvements, clinical issues, employee, facility customer or patient/family issues.
Create and maintain a team spirit and positive patient focused culture among all the clinicians on the team.
Perform clinical services within the standards of Eventus WholeHealth clinicians for area of clinical specialty.
Provide backup and fill-in clinical services (e.g., PTO and uncovered buildings coverage) when needed and work alongside providers in trainings or starting up new buildings, to ensure that all patients within the care team are serviced.
For Area Directors holding active clinical licensure, clinical services are expected to be at least 20% of the productivity requirements of a same specialty FT provider.
Area Directors from a non-clinical background will coordinate backup and fill-in coverage through licensed providers on the care team.
