About The Position

The Area Coordinator for Housing Operations is a full-time, 12-month, live-in professional position responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operations of all residence halls and university apartments. This role involves serving as the departmental functional user for StarRez Housing Management Software, ensuring accuracy in assignments, occupancy records, and various housing processes. The position also includes administrative responsibilities, facilities management liaison, custodial and operational oversight, student development support, conduct and crisis response, and coordination of summer conferences and camps. A university-provided apartment is required as a condition of employment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • One year of professional experience in Housing & Residence Life, Student Engagement, facilities operations, or a related field.
  • Working knowledge of StarRez Housing Management Software or a comparable higher education housing management system.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Educational Leadership, or a related field.
  • Two or more years of progressively responsible Residence Life experience.
  • Experience supervising student employees.
  • Experience with housing occupancy management and facilities operations.
  • Experience with student conduct administration.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the day-to-day operations of all residence halls and university apartments.
  • Serve as the departmental functional user for StarRez Housing Management Software, ensuring the accuracy of housing assignments, occupancy records, room inventories, student applications, room changes, check-in/check-out processes, key management, and reporting.
  • Maintain accurate occupancy records, housing rosters, waitlists, and assignment data utilizing StarRez.
  • Process housing applications, assignments, room changes, cancellations, and contract updates through StarRez.
  • Generate occupancy, assignment, utilization, and operational reports using StarRez to support departmental planning and decision-making.
  • Assist with housing selection, room assignments, and residential occupancy management for new and returning students.
  • Coordinate opening, closing, break housing, and transition processes.
  • Conduct routine room inspections and ensure all rooms are prepared for student occupancy, conferences, camps, and special events.
  • Monitor room readiness, including furniture inventories, cleanliness, maintenance completion, and safety compliance.
  • Maintain accurate housing records and operational reports.
  • Assist with departmental assessment initiatives.
  • Prepare occupancy, damage, and facilities reports.
  • Analyze occupancy trends and operational data to support strategic planning.
  • Assist with budget monitoring for assigned operational areas.
  • Participate in departmental committees and strategic initiatives.
  • Serve as the departmental liaison with Facilities Management regarding maintenance and repair projects.
  • Monitor work orders from submission through completion.
  • Conduct follow-up inspections to ensure satisfactory completion of repairs.
  • Identify facility concerns and recommend preventative maintenance initiatives.
  • Maintain inventories of furniture, appliances, keys, equipment, and operational supplies.
  • Coordinate furniture replacement, room inventory, and asset management.
  • Provide daily operational oversight of custodial services within residential facilities.
  • Develop and monitor cleaning schedules.
  • Conduct quality assurance inspections.
  • Ensure compliance with university cleanliness standards.
  • Assist with summer conference turnover, room preparation, and deep-cleaning schedules.
  • Foster a welcoming, engaging, and student-centered residential community.
  • Respond to student concerns and provide conflict mediation when appropriate.
  • Support departmental programming initiatives.
  • Promote student engagement, wellness, and academic success.
  • Participate in the professional staff on-call rotation.
  • Respond to emergencies, crises, and after-hours incidents.
  • Document incidents using departmental reporting systems.
  • Adjudicate student conduct cases in accordance with university policies.
  • Collaborate with University Police, Counseling Services, Student Conduct, and Title IX personnel as appropriate.
  • Coordinate housing operations for summer camps, conferences, orientation programs, and special events.
  • Manage check-in and check-out processes using StarRez.
  • Coordinate staffing and operational logistics to support conference housing.
  • Serve on university committees.
  • Participate in recruitment and orientation activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
