About The Position

This recruitment is for an Archivist position with the Department of Health in Downtown, Oahu. The role involves performing archival work, which includes appraising, arranging, and describing government records and/or private collections. Responsibilities also include providing reference service to the public, government agencies, and other researchers, as well as collecting, indexing, storing, and making accessible digital data of archival/historical value. Duties may vary slightly between Archivist I and Archivist II levels, with Level II performing moderately difficult archival work. The recruitment is continuous and may close at any time.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited four-year college or university which included a minimum of twelve (12) semester credit hours in one or a combination of the following: history, political science, or public administration.
  • For Archivist II: Six (6) months of progressively responsible experience in one or a combination of the fields: Professional archival work dealing with non-current public records, documents, and historical records; OR Professional library work maintaining an efficient reference service dealing with the fields of history, government documents and records, political science, public administration, or law; OR Professional work formulating, installing, revising, or supervising a system of governmental records management.
  • Ability to lift and carry items up to 50 pounds (for some positions)
  • Ability to climb a five-step ladder unassisted (for some positions)
