Reporting to the Low-Rise Construction General Manager, the Architectural Technologist will provide comprehensive support to the design and construction documentation of low-rise residential projects, contributing to the efficient delivery of working drawings, permit packages, and code-compliant model development across our active communities.

Requirements

  • Diploma or degree in Architectural Technology
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in residential design, preferably with a production homebuilder
  • Strong working knowledge of the Ontario Building Code, particularly Part 9 and SB-12 energy compliance
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD is essential
  • Familiarity with City of Ottawa zoning by-laws and the local permit process
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent ability to multitask with multiple competing deadlines
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to coordinate effectively with consultants, trades, and building officials/reviewers
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) is essential

  • BCIN designation would be an asset

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain working drawings, permit sets, and construction details for low-rise models including townhomes, semi-detached, and singles
  • Adapt base models to specific lot conditions (grade, elevation variations, street end conditions) and purchaser modifications
  • Ensure drawing packages comply with the Ontario Building Code (Part 9 and SB-12) and applicable City of Ottawa zoning by-laws
  • Coordinate with architectural, structural, mechanical and electrical consultants to resolve technical and design questions
  • Support permit applications and respond to municipal review comments
  • Provide technical support to site supervisors, including drawing interpretation, requests for details and documentation of as-built changes
  • Maintain drawing standards, title blocks, and CAD library content (blocks, families, details)
  • Contribute to new model development from blackline design through issued-for-construction documentation
  • Other duties, as assigned
