About The Position

Serve as an Architectural Engineer (AE) to provide conceptual and detailed design of building architecture in the post-sales stage. This role involves working with local agencies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and municipal requirements and building codes. The AE will be responsible for the detailed design of mechanical parts, including wall and floor penetrations, doors and door hardware, flashing and sealing, and water mitigation. Designs must meet or exceed Vertiv quality requirements and stay within budgetary constraints. The position requires creating detailed Schematic Design (SD), Detail Design (DD), and Construction Drawing (CD) narratives for architectural design aspects. The AE will also review and approve architectural product submittals, coordinate with Mechanical Engineers on thermal transfer calculations, and specify architectural and finish materials. Collaboration with Vertiv’s business units, Business Partners, and vendors is essential for specifying appropriate material specifications and sizes for fabrication. The role includes defining project scope, providing technical support, coordinating structural and civil work design, and offering technical project coordination with customers and suppliers. Quality control during execution, support for on-site module repairs, and travel to fabricators for design validation and workmanship audits are also key responsibilities. The AE may communicate directly with customers to understand and design solutions for their needs, offering creative, out-of-the-box solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Architectural Engineering or acceptable experience
  • Minimum 2 years of Architectural engineering experience
  • Knowledge of local, state, & federal codes governing the installation and use of low voltage switchboards/switchgear.
  • Working knowledge in AutoCAD and Autodesk Revit
  • Proven experience with Microsoft Office Applications
  • Experience reading and interpreting construction drawings and equipment specifications
  • Knowledge and understanding of local and national building codes
  • Must be able to interpret customer specification requirements
  • Must have the ability to research new designs, technologies and construction methods of data center equipment and facilities
  • Ability to think outside the box to find creative and innovative solutions to reduce costs with no impact on quality, reliability or maintainability.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills both written and verbal.

Responsibilities

  • Work with local agencies having jurisdiction to ensure compliance with federal, state and municipal requirements and building codes.
  • Detailed design of mechanical parts – wall and floor penetrations, doors and door hardware, Flashing and sealing, water mitigation, etc.
  • Create designs which meet or exceed Vertiv quality requirements and fall within budgetary requirements.
  • Provide a detailed Schematic Design(SD), Detail Design(DD) and Construction Drawing(CD) narrative for architectural design aspects of the solution
  • Review and approve architectural product submittals.
  • Coordinate with Mechanical Engineer on thermal transfer calculations (fire ratings and thermal bridges)
  • Material specification – architectural and finish
  • Work with Vertiv’s business units, Business Partners and preferred vendors to specify the appropriate material specifications and sizes for the fabrication process to succeed.
  • Define project scope and provide technical support for information requests prior to and during construction phases.
  • Coordination between structural and civil work design
  • Provide technical project coordination with customers and suppliers
  • Quality control during execution
  • Provide support for all on site module repairs (damaged paint, door malfunction etc.)
  • Travel to fabricators facility for design validation and review their workmanship as well as provide engineering evaluations and workmanship audits as needed.
  • May communicate with the customer in order to design the best possible solution for his needs.
  • Offer creative, out of the box solutions to the customer.
