Architectural Engineer, Electrical Systems

Hadrian Automation•Torrance, CA
•$106,000 - $181,000•Hybrid

About The Position

In this role, you’ll translate the electrical needs of our production equipment into real, permitted, built facilities. You’ll shape early power and electrical requirements driven by equipment selection and operational flow, inform site selection, and lead electrical schematic design through to construction. You’ll be Hadrian’s primary point of contact with our external Architect and General Contractor partners communicating requirements, driving coordination between disciplines, reviewing and verifying drawings, and resolving electrical design issues before they reach the field. This is a role for someone who makes forward progress through ambiguity, takes smart calculated risks, and treats schedule and budget as real design constraints. Ultimately, you’ll partner closely with engineering to intake requirements and turn them into a built reality on schedule and on budget.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • Professional licensure (PE preferred), or clear progress toward it.
  • 5+ years of experience in electrical facility or building-systems design.
  • Experience designing for new manufacturing or production facilities, ideally in environments with engineering and production complexity comparable to Hadrian’s.
  • Working knowledge of electrical codes and standards (e.g., NEC/NFPA 70, IBC) and power distribution for industrial facilities.
  • Proficiency with Procore or an equivalent construction management platform.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in highly regulated or high-consequence industries (nuclear, energy, aerospace, defense, advanced manufacturing).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for interfacing with diverse engineering disciplines, stakeholders, and external partners to foster collaborative problem-solving.
  • Practical knowledge of field installation methods, means, and materials, including troubleshooting real-world constructability issues and adapting designs for on-site efficiency.
  • Exposure to design-for-construction or design-for-operations efforts.
  • Experience working on expedited timelines or in fast-paced industries.

Responsibilities

  • Intake electrical facility requirements from engineering, often driven by production equipment selection and operational flow. Lead the development of the electrical scope simultaneously, from initial concept evaluations to the completion of construction drawings for permitting and on-site execution, ensuring a smooth translation from design to real-world field conditions.
  • Strategically identify critical path items relating to the electrical design, procurement, and construction phases. Manage the critical path and any blockers. Apply first-principles thinking to recover lost time and protect delivery milestones.
  • Collaborate closely with manufacturing, construction, facilities, and cross-disciplinary teams to address end-user requirements, resolve integration challenges, and coordinate electrical systems against architectural, structural, and mechanical designs so everything stays compatible with the design intent.
  • Participate in design reviews for current and future phases. Translate field conditions into constructability and sequencing feedback before they become costly problems.

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans for employees
  • 401k
  • Relocation support may be provided for certain situations, based on business need.
  • Flexible vacation policy
  • Equity
