About The Position

Beyer Blinder Belle is seeking an Architectural Designer to join our Historic Preservation Studio in New York City. This role is ideal for a well-rounded architect or designer who is passionate about historic buildings and has experience supporting projects from early investigation through construction. The successful candidate will have strong technical and graphic communication skills, proficiency in Revit, and exposure to construction administration. Working alongside architects, preservation specialists, and project managers, you will contribute to the rehabilitation, restoration, adaptive reuse, and preservation of significant historic buildings and sites.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of professional architectural experience, including work on historic preservation, restoration, rehabilitation, or adaptive reuse projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in construction administration.
  • Strong proficiency in Revit.
  • Experience producing construction documents and architectural detailing is required.
  • Excellent graphic communication and presentation skills, including proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Experience in documenting and working with historic buildings.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Architectural licensure or progress toward licensure is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the planning, design, documentation, and construction administration of historic preservation, restoration, rehabilitation, and adaptive reuse projects.
  • Prepare design and construction documents using Revit.
  • Assist with field investigations, existing conditions surveys, and documentation of historic buildings.
  • Develop architectural details and technical solutions that are sensitive to historic fabric and aligned with project goals.
  • Prepare presentation materials, diagrams, renderings, and graphic documentation for client presentations and project deliverables.
  • Coordinate with project teams, consultants, and internal disciplines throughout all phases of a project.
  • Participate in construction administration activities, including site visits, review of submittments, responses to RFIs, and preparation of field reports.
  • Conduct research on historic materials, construction techniques, building systems, and applicable preservation standards and codes.
