About The Position

For over 25 years, National Experienced Workforce Solutions (NEW Solutions) has specialized in connecting experienced workers (ages 55+) with full-time and part-time job opportunities that support the critical missions of Federal Agencies across the United States. NEW Solutions connects experienced workers (ages 55+) with the National Park Service (NPS). These experienced professionals provide administrative expertise, facilities management, natural and cultural resource planning, and a broad array of other professional skills that support the National Park Service through the Experienced Services Program (ESP). Positions listed here do not guarantee employment for any definite period. Enrollment in the Experienced Worker Programs administered by NEW Solutions is temporary. The enrollment relationship between NEW Solutions and the Enrollee is an "at-will" relationship. This means that an Enrollee is free to terminate enrollment at any time during the enrollment period, and NEW Solutions and the Agency have the right to terminate the relationship with the Enrollee. PLEASE NOTE: An "Enrollee" is not a federal employee, nor an employee of NEW Solutions. Requirements

  • BA/BS Degree in Historic Architecture or related with minimum additional experience of 20 year(s) in Historic Architecture or related
  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, Adobe Acrobat

Responsibilities

  • Enrollee provide expertise, and analysis in the fields of historical architecture, engineering, restoration, preservation, stabilization, and conservation.
  • Projects will be conducted on an "as-needed" basis in response to technical assistance requests from Mojave National Preserve (Preserve) for Historic Preservation.
  • Conduct architectural inspections of structures, facilities and cultural resource features in Preserve to assess their physical condition and determine likely causes of deterioration.
  • Recommend treatment that will address deficiencies and help to assure the long-term preservation of the resource that will meet the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties.
  • Provide technical assistance to new and existing cultural resource professionals in the NPS.
  • Assist with developing task agreements through the CESU program to enlist NPS Cooperator(s) who can facilitate the execution of the recommended treatments, and/or it may involve participation in field schools held under the terms of the task agreement.
  • Other projects, reports or studies as identified by the Mojave National Preserve Cultural Resources or Science and Resource Stewardship Programs.
