As an Architectural Designer in Thornton Tomasetti’s Protective Design & Security (PD&S) practice, you will support risk-based security planning and design that mitigates vulnerabilities and safeguards people and operations while balancing safety, security, usability, and design intent. You will contribute to layered security strategies connecting site planning, architecture, structural systems, electronic security, and operations across buildings, campuses, and mixed-use environments. Working with support from a collaborative, multidisciplinary team, you will develop technical, design, and project coordination skills. The PD&S practice applies risk-led and strategic solutions to protect people, property, and operations from intentional harm and evolving threats. The work brings together security planning, physical security, and electronic security to develop layered protection strategies, including secure site planning, physical hardening, access control, surveillance, and detection integrated with security operations.
