Architect | Facilities Design & Engineering Team

Texas Instruments•Dallas, TX

About The Position

Texas Instruments is seeking an experienced Architect to join its Design & Engineering team and support rapid growth and new manufacturing footprints. Reporting as an Owner’s Representative, the Architect partners with external architecture and engineering firms to develop, review, and verify architectural solutions for new wafer fabs, assembly-test facilities, cleanrooms, and other large-scale green-field and brown-field projects worldwide. The role focuses on building-level design, clean-room environments, occupancy planning, and site-to-building layout, complementing the broader engineering effort. The Architect leads architectural design and planning from concept through construction documents; coordinates architectural design with MEP and other disciplines; supports construction through submittal reviews, RFI responses, and site inspections; and manages external architectural consultants, scope, budgets, schedules, and deliverables. The position also develops standards and design guidance for TI projects, advises global sites, identifies cost and energy-efficiency improvements, participates in design reviews, represents TI in technology forums, and mentors junior architects or engineers. Texas Instruments will not sponsor job applicants for visas or work authorization for this position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Architectural Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience designing cleanroom-type facilities or high-tech industrial buildings.
  • Ability to lead multidisciplinary design teams and coordinate with civil and structural engineers, MEP engineers, and construction contractors.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience designing facilities in the semiconductor industry.
  • Expertise in cleanroom classification, airflow management, and contamination control.
  • Experience with building occupancy modeling, space-planning software such as Revit, AutoCAD, or Navisworks, and BIM coordination.
  • Strong facilitation and communication skills for working with business partners, external suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Leadership, organizational, presentation, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Willingness to travel internationally as project needs dictate.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word) and BIM tools, and ability to produce construction drawings, details, and interior layout plans.
  • Knowledge of fire-protection, life-safety, and accessibility (ADA) codes; familiarity with sustainability standards such as LEED.
  • Strong self-motivation, independence, and a high standard of professional integrity.

Responsibilities

  • Lead concept, schematic, design-development, and construction-document phases for architectural aspects of semiconductor facilities.
  • Plan cleanroom layouts, classifications, pressure cascades, and gowning areas.
  • Conduct building occupancy analyses and space-utilization studies, and develop functional zoning.
  • Integrate site plans with driving lanes, parking, utility corridors, and pedestrian pathways.
  • Plan interior fit-outs, finishes, furniture, and ergonomic considerations for control rooms, labs, and offices.
  • Integrate mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems into architectural models for coordination.
  • Ensure compliance with local building codes, fire-protection regulations, cleanroom standards, and TI sustainability goals.
  • Liaise between TI operations and maintenance teams and external architecture firms; gather user requirements and translate them into design intent.
  • Review and approve architectural submittals, shop drawings, mock-ups, and material samples.
  • Respond to RFIs and conduct on-site inspections to verify construction against approved design documents.
  • Manage external architectural consultants, including scopes of work, budgets, and schedules.
  • Develop and maintain architectural templates, design guides, and best-practice libraries for future TI projects.
  • Advise global TI sites on cleanroom design, building circulation, ADA compliance, and workplace ergonomics.
  • Promote architectural solutions that improve reliability, reduce construction cost, and enhance energy efficiency.
  • Own architectural scope support budget and expenditure reviews, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Prepare and manage architectural scope statements of work, project schedules, and deliverables.
  • Participate in cross-functional design reviews to align architectural, structural, and systems engineering disciplines.
  • Represent TI in internal and external technology forums and share architectural innovations and lessons learned.
  • Contribute to TI’s Technical Ladder Organization and mentor junior architects or engineers.
