Architect
About The Position
This position performs technical administrative work involving project management, review and approval, and technical assistance in support of building operational systems in new or remodeled State buildings. It is being recruited in support of potential future contract awards, and qualified candidates may be considered for upcoming opportunities supporting federal government clients. The Architect provides planning, programming, scopes of work, construction cost estimates, design review, and architectural plans for State facility construction and renovation projects. Projects may include correctional, higher education, health, office, recreational, court, and residential facilities. The role also advises state officials, coordinates with agency clients, supports code compliance, and prepares technical documentation and bid packages.
Requirements
- Must possess a Certificate of Registration as a Delaware Architect.
- Must be proficient in the use of AutoCAD software.
- Must have skill in analyzing building and interior space designs, evaluating alternatives, and providing cost-effective solutions.
- Must have the ability to develop good working relationships with people of diverse backgrounds and capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Provides pre-design services, planning, programming, scopes of work, and construction cost estimates for State facility construction and renovation projects.
- Provides recommendations and guidance to state officials, including agency heads, on State construction, planning, and renovation projects.
- Ensures compliance with applicable building and construction codes concerning life safety, height and area standards, and means of egress.
- Negotiates space requirements and design standards with State agency clients.
- Negotiates contracts for architectural services serving agencies statewide and individually.
- Prepares reports, correspondence, design reviews of specifications and drawings, and bidding packages for State agencies lacking engineering support.
- Develops and draws final architectural space design plans for new and renovation projects.
- Draws architectural plans for small buildings and minor capital improvement projects.
- Analyzes building and interior space designs, evaluates alternatives, and provides cost-effective solutions.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
