About The Position

This position is in the Department of History & Archaeology and the Collins Institute. The student will demonstrate dependability in the work schedule and considerable attention to detail in maintaining databases and inventories critical to the work. The student will use a range of technology, such as Photography, Photoshop and Excel, to maintain and supplement archival work and inventories. The student will learn how to use a variety of computer skills, including excel, access, photoshop, adobe illustrator, scanning, etc. The student will also help volunteers/students with restoration of pottery.

  • Experience or background in the social sciences with interest in archaeology
  • Work experience, e.g., in organizational strategies, use of computer, ability to work with others

Responsibilities

  • Assist the director in processing pottery and objects to prepare for publication, as well as management of the extensive corpus of materials and documents in the lab
  • Update and maintain the database, including all digitization and archiving of data
  • Help volunteers/students with restoration of pottery
  • Be able to work without constant supervision and be proactive about maintaining the lab operation
