About The Position

The intern assists with conducting basic background research on known archaeological sites and inventorying, digitizing, rehousing of archaeological artifacts in MNHS collections. They will also assist with records transcriptions and artifact photography, as well as updating records in the Collections Management System (CMS). Interns are required to participate in three, in-person seminars focused on professional development, learning how cultural organizations operate, and building a network of industry professionals. At the end of the semester, interns complete a final presentation to share their work.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student, or have graduated within the past 12 months at the time of application.
  • Coursework in archaeology
  • Completed a field school in anthropology/archaeology
  • Ability to work well independently and in a team setting
  • Detail-orientated
  • Experience with Microsoft Suite & Google Suite

Nice To Haves

  • Ideal candidates might be currently pursuing, or a graduate with a degree in the following areas: Anthropology/Archaeology, American Indian Studies, Museum Studies, Public History, or related degrees.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct background research on known archaeological sites in Minnesota
