About The Position

AGEISS Inc. is seeking an on-call Archaeologist to conduct cultural resources work and management at locations across the United States. The role includes archaeological field investigations and documentation, cultural resource research and reporting, field crew oversight, and preparation of consultation materials for Section 106 compliance. Travel may be required.

AGEISS is headquartered in Colorado and provides environmental consulting, facilities engineering, advisory and assistance, and program/project management services to the federal sector nationwide and internationally. Requirements

• Master’s degree in a related field.
• Meet the Secretary of the Interior’s professional qualifications standards in archaeology.
• Experience as an Archaeology Field Supervisor.
• Familiarity with the Section 106 process.
• Expertise with all programs in the Microsoft Suite.
• Strong communication and writing skills.
• Ability to work in adverse conditions and steep terrain.
• Detail-oriented and motivated self-starter.
• Proficient with technology, including GPS and other data collection devices, online databases, and digital cameras.

Nice To Haves

• Registered Professional Archaeologist preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct Phase I and Phase II surveys, testing and data recovery, monitoring, site documentation, and artifact processing.
• Develop cultural resource survey reports.
• Create site forms, GPS mapping, and site feature and profile maps.
• Identify precontact and historic-period sites, artifacts, and features.
• Conduct cultural resource background research, including research on soils and natural resources, cultural background, SHPO databases, GLO plats, ethnographies, land patents and historic maps, and tax assessments.
• Oversee field crew.
• Develop consultation packages, including state-specific SHPO forms for Section 106 compliance.
