About The Position
The Arborist Climber Trainee is an entry-level member of a tree care crew, working alongside arborists on commercial and residential properties. The role provides practical field experience and hands-on, on-the-job training in scientific tree and shrub care and arboriculture. Trainees learn to perform tree care work safely, maintain and operate equipment, follow work-zone and company safety procedures, and assist Arborist Climbers and Arborist Crew Leaders on the ground and aloft.
Requirements
- Pass a criminal background check.
- Have a valid driver's license and a clean motor vehicle record.
- Be interested in working outdoors year-round in all weather conditions.
- Have a positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to work on a multidisciplinary team.
- Have a passion for nature, the environment, and the outdoors.
Nice To Haves
- Prior experience in tree care, landscaping, forestry, turf care, or horticulture.
- A degree in Arboriculture, Forestry, Horticulture, Turfgrass, Environmental Science, Plant Science, Outdoor Recreation, Agriculture, or a related field.
Responsibilities
- Learn to safely perform arboriculture tasks through on-the-job training, including tree climbing, pruning, rigging, cabling and bracing, hazardous tree removal, and tree identification.
- Properly maintain and operate hand tools, chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts.
- Implement work-zone safety procedures and follow all company safety rules and policies.
- Assist Arborist Climbers and Arborist Crew Leaders on the ground and aloft.
- Assist with driving, backing, dumping, and parking duties.
