About The Position
The Arborist Climber Trainee is an entry-level role on a tree care crew, working alongside arborists on commercial and residential properties. The trainee gains practical field experience and develops arboriculture skills through hands-on, on-the-job training. The work involves learning safe tree and shrub care practices and supporting crew members on the ground and aloft.
Requirements
- Passion for nature, the environment, and the outdoors.
- Interest in working outdoors year-round in all weather conditions.
- Valid driver's license.
- Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to work on a multidisciplinary team.
Nice To Haves
- Prior tree care, landscaping, forestry, turf care, or horticulture experience.
- Degree in Arboriculture, Forestry, Horticulture, Turfgrass, Environmental Science, Plant Science, Outdoor Recreation, Agriculture, or a related field.
Responsibilities
- Learn to safely perform arboriculture work through on-the-job training, including tree climbing, pruning, rigging, cabling and bracing, hazardous tree removal, and tree identification.
- Maintain and properly operate hand tools, chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts.
- Implement work zone safety procedures.
- Assist Arborist Climbers and Arborist Crew Leaders on the ground and aloft.
- Assist with driving, backing, dumping, and parking duties.
- Learn, understand, and adhere to all safety rules and company safety policies.
