About The Position

The Arborist Climber Trainee is an entry-level role on a tree care crew, working alongside arborists on commercial and residential properties. The position provides practical field experience and hands-on, on-the-job training in scientific tree and shrub care and arboriculture. Trainees learn to perform tree care work safely, maintain and operate equipment, assist crew members on the ground and aloft, and follow company safety policies. The role involves working outdoors year-round in all weather conditions.

Nice To Haves

Prior tree care, landscaping, forestry, turf care, or horticulture experience is preferred but not required.
A degree in Arboriculture, Forestry, Horticulture, Turfgrass, Environmental Science, Plant Science, Outdoor Recreation, Agriculture, or a related field is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Learn through on-the-job training to safely perform tree climbing, pruning, rigging, cabling and bracing, and removal of hazardous trees.
Learn tree identification.
Properly maintain and operate hand tools, chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts.
Implement work zone safety procedures.
Assist Arborist Climbers and Arborist Crew Leaders on the ground and aloft.
Assist with driving, backing, dumping, and parking duties.
Learn, understand, and adhere to safety rules and company safety policies.
