About The Position

The Arbor Cafe Supervisor is responsible for the direct supervision of all Arbor Cafe operations, food preparation, and quality and presentation. Order supplies, instruct employees and meet customer satisfaction. Keep the Cafe area sanitized in a manner consistent with CRISTA standards and applicable regulations. Oversee the cafe, lead, orient, train, schedule and evaluate staff and services. Train staff in Point of Sale (POS). Promote residents, guests and staff satisfaction by treating them with dignity and in a positive and professional manner; and present meals in a correct, timely and pleasant manner. Communicate appropriate information to the Executive Chef AL Manager in a timely manner. This position is an integral part of Senior Living’s mission of providing joy and purpose to the lives of residents, staff and guests.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Three years in food service.
  • One year in a supervisory role.
  • Washington State Food Handler’s Permit
  • POS, Basic Knowledge of Word/Excel.
  • Able to operate all job-related food equipment.
  • Knowledge of food presentation techniques.
  • Knowledge of food cost controls.
  • Safely operating all job-related equipment.
  • Read, write and follow recipes.
  • Team leader.
  • Able to add, subtracts, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Read, write, communicate clearly and effectively and interpret English at a functional level.
  • Ability to pass background checks relating to DSHS Secretary’s List of Crimes and Negative Actions. (WAC 388-113).

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university recognized by the United States Department of Education or equivalent.
  • Menu planning, including creation of new items and pricing.
  • ServeSafe Food Protection Manager Certificate.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure operation and food preparation complies with applicable codes.
  • Ensure food is prepared in a safe manner with consistent high quality.
  • Perform tasks necessary to maintain operations, including any job supervised.
  • Operate within budgetary guidelines. Work with manager to set pricing.
  • Track and balance sales daily and prepare daily deposit.
  • Coordinate appropriate preventative maintenance and repairs on equipment.
  • Enforce cleaning standards.
  • Help coordinate food ordering with the Courtyard.
  • Ensure food quality is served to meet customer satisfaction.
  • Complete instruction, training, and orientation of employees.
  • Oversee cleaning, production, and employee scheduling.
  • Review & approve employee timecards.
  • Know and follow service standards and systems.
  • Understand Food Safety and preventive and corrective measures to ensure food is served safely to residents and guests.
  • Ensure team is ready for service throughout the day.
  • Monitor that guests receive food they ordered in a timely manner and in a pleasant environment.
  • Train staff on POS and oversee all transactions in the POS system, including “descending dollar” program.
  • Prepare weekly schedules for staff with duty sections and cleaning responsibilities in a timely manner.
  • Help with interviewing, training, new hire paperwork, manage staff schedules, and supervise daily activities of staff.
  • Conduct that reflects well on CRISTA Ministries and aligns with its mission, vision, Statement of Faith and Christian Community Representative Commitment (CCC).
