About The Position

Portland Parks & Recreation (PP&R) is seeking team-oriented, enthusiastic, and qualified staff to operate its 4 year-round indoor and 7 summer outdoor swimming pools. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop leadership skills while ensuring the safety and enjoyment of pool patrons. All staff are expected to maintain positive public relations and adhere to established policies and procedures for the safe, fun, and efficient operation of City Pools. This is an open continuous posting, meaning there are no set interview or hiring dates, and applicants will be contacted as positions become available. The job is classified as Casual, Part-time, with varying hours based on program needs and job classification, potentially including days, evenings, weekends, or holidays. The number of weekly hours can fluctuate, and there is no guarantee of consistent hours. Positions are located at various sites across Portland, OR, and applicants can select multiple preferred locations.

Requirements

Must be 16 years of age or older.
Must possess a current StarGuard Lifeguard Certification or be in the process of obtaining it (for Lifeguard and Dual Certification jobs).
Must possess a current Portland Parks & Recreation Swim Instructor Certification or be in the process of obtaining it (for Swim Instructor and Dual Certification jobs).
Must possess a current Portland Parks & Recreation Water Fitness Instructor Certification and/or AEA/Equivalent certification or be in the process of obtaining it (for Water Fitness Instructor jobs).
