As an Aquatics Coordinator, you’ll play a key leadership role in shaping a dynamic pool environment where participants of all ages can grow, learn, and thrive. Requirements

Team Leader Certification from Y-USA (or be actively working towards)
Must acquire and maintain certification with the following and within required timelines: Ellis LG & LGI, American Red Cross WSI or WSIT, Vanguard Aquatics Supervisor Training
Minimum of 3-5 years of related work experience
Must be physically able to teach aquatic lessons and lift an adult male from the pool to the pool deck
Complete program specific and employee orientation training by required timeline.

Responsibilities

Ensure all aquatic activities are safe, engaging, and aligned with YMCA standards
Champion water safety through swim testing, education, and community outreach
Help create a fun, welcoming environment that keeps members coming back
Recruit, train, and mentor a team of lifeguards and aquatics staff
Build confidence through ongoing in-services and hands-on coaching
Lead by example—demonstrating professionalism, vigilance, and teamwork
Maintain a clean, safe, and well-equipped aquatic facility
Oversee scheduling, certifications, and essential documentation
Support emergency preparedness and ensure staff are always rescue-ready
Promote aquatics programs and water safety initiatives
Collaborate with branch leadership and community partners
Represent the YMCA mission through every interaction
