About The Position

An Aquatic Center Director plans, develops, coordinates and implements aquatics recreation programs. Work of this class involves supervising full-time and part-time aquatic and recreation leaders and assistants. Incumbents receive general supervision from a technical superior. Employees in this class work a conventional workweek which may include evening and weekend hours. Work is performed in an aquatic center where unpleasant working conditions are rarely encountered. Work requires moderate physical exertion.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in recreation, recreation administration, physical education, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
Two years of experience in lifeguard, pool operation, pool management or aquatic training.
Must hold and maintain Lifeguard Certificate issued by the American Red Cross.
Must hold and maintain Lifeguard Instructor Certificate issued by the American Red Cross.
Must hold and maintain Water Safety Instructor Certificate issued by the American Red Cross.
Must hold and maintain Certified Pool Operator certificate.
Authorization for a Criminal Background Check and/or Fingerprint must be successfully completed.
Must complete a mandatory six-month probation.
