About The Position

The Apstar Operator is responsible for setting up, running, inspecting and maintaining the machine. This role requires a commitment to safety, maintaining high efficiency, and completing quality inspections per customer specifications. The operator will work with peers to improve quality and performance, maintain housekeeping of their assigned area, and understand department communication systems. Responsibilities include feeding sheets into the machine, setting up the machine for production runs, performing minor repairs to cutting boards, completing color checks, delegating responsibilities to assistants, inputting production numbers, scanning WIP tags, and performing quality process control data input and logging. Routine maintenance duties, including anvil rotation, and assisting maintenance with machine repairs are also part of the role. Other duties as assigned by management are expected.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior die cut experience highly desired
  • Safety sensitive position – ability to work in a constant state of alertness and a safe manner
  • Ability to work overtime and weekends as required based upon the needs of the business
  • Ability to work on a rotating shift as needed
  • Ability to effectively work in teams – meets deadlines and responsibilities to help team meet goals, listens to others and values opinions, promotes a team atmosphere
  • Ability to work in a production-based environment with moving equipment and people
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively with a wide variety of roles

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate commitment to safety and perform job duties in accordance with company safety policies and procedures
  • Maintain high efficiency according to established rates during operation
  • Complete required quality inspections per customer specifications and paperwork
  • Work with peers to improve quality and performance
  • Provide an active role in the housekeeping of the assigned area
  • Understand department communication systems, schedules, time/attendance system and job reporting requirements
  • Feed printed, labeled or plain corrugated sheets into the machine
  • Properly set up machine center for production runs
  • Perform minor repairs to cutting boards
  • Complete color checks using Color Sentry
  • Delegate responsibilities to the assistants & helpers
  • Input production numbers into BVP
  • Scan WIP tags and/or load tags
  • Perform quality process control data input & log
  • Perform routine maintenance duties, which may include rotation of anvils
  • Repair or assist maintenance in the repair of machine as necessary
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management/supervisors
