About The Position

The Advanced Practice Nurse/Physician Assistant works collaboratively with a physician and multidisciplinary health team to provide comprehensive care to outpatients. The APRN/PA is responsible for assessment, diagnosis, treatment, management, education, health promotion, and care coordination for patients and families with acute and chronic health needs. This position will hire either an APRN or PA.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing – Family Medicine (for APRN)
  • Three (3) years of nursing experience (for APRN)
  • Licensed Registered Nurse in Arkansas (for APRN)
  • APRN License (for APRN)
  • Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP) or Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) certification (for APRN)
  • 1 year of APRN experience in Adult-Gerontology Primary Care or Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP)
  • Master’s Degree – Physician Assistant (for PA)
  • 1 year of PA experience in Adult-Gerontology Primary Care or Family Medicine (for PA)
  • PA license
  • Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • DNP (for APRN)
  • 4 years of nursing experience (for APRN)
  • 4 years of APRN experience in Gerontology and/or Memory Clinic Experience
  • 4 years of PA experience in a Gerontology and/or Memory Clinic Experience

Responsibilities

  • Extend the patient care and administrative services of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences physicians.
  • Provide comprehensive health assessments, determine diagnoses, implement treatment plans, prescribe medical treatments, and manage health issues for patients in collaboration with the designated physician(s).
  • Work autonomously, as well as in collaboration with a variety of individuals to diagnose and manage patients' health care problems; and will serve as a health care resource, interdisciplinary consultant, and patient advocate.
  • Coordinate the multidisciplinary care of patients, facilitating all necessary consults, and assuring that care is timely and appropriate.
  • Interacts with and assists the public in a professional and friendly manner as needed.
  • Demonstrates effective communication skills; communicates accurate and complete information; maintains strict confidentiality when necessary.
  • Demonstrates positive working relationships with co-workers, management team, and ancillary departments; follows the Core Concepts of Patient and Family Centered Care and the Basic Code of Conduct Guidelines.
  • Assist internal and external stakeholders as needed with exceptional customer service.
  • Other duties as assigned.
