About The Position

Daimler Truck North America (DTNA), the largest and most diverse company in the North American commercial vehicle market, invites individuals to join their dynamic team through an Apprenticeship Program for Tool and Die in Gastonia, NC. This program is designed for talented, highly motivated individuals to become part of a worldwide network of over 250,000 dedicated employees. Apprentices will receive comprehensive hands-on training from a certified Journeyman, covering the repair of various tooling such as stamping dies, assembly fixtures, welding fixtures, and machining fixtures. The program also includes formal classroom training in Tool and Die related skills, with all educational requirements to be completed within a four-year, 8000-hour apprenticeship period. Upon successful completion of the program, candidates will advance to the Journeyman’s pay rate of Grade ST-C. Requirements

  • Should be able to learn and apply all the essential functions of the job.
  • Complete a probationary period of 2000 hours.

  • Pass a RISE Tier 1 Exam (Math and English) administered by Cleveland Community College.
  • Achieve a minimum test score of 70% in Math on the RISE Tier 1 Exam.
  • Achieve a minimum test score of 70% in English on the RISE Tier 1 Exam.
  • Provide a hard copy of the test results or email test result information to Steve Dean ([email protected]).
  • Be legally authorized to work permanently in the country the position is located in at the time of application.
  • Successfully complete a criminal background check.
  • May be required to successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen.

Responsibilities

  • Receive hands-on training from a certified Journeyman.
  • Perform repair of stamping dies, assembly fixtures, welding fixtures, machining fixtures, as well as any other tooling needs in the shop.
  • Perform various duties involved in repairing tooling or making new tooling.
  • Execute milling, grinding, sawing, welding, heat-treating, lathe work, press line support, change over support, bench work, CAD work, wire EDM, CNC machining, waterjet cutting, and manual machining.
  • Attend formal classroom training in Tool and Die related skills.
  • Complete all educational requirements within a four-year, 8000-hour apprenticeship period.
  • Work across all three shifts.
