About The Position

Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC) is seeking an Apprenticeship Coordinator to perform administrative and operational functions for its apprenticeship programs. This role is crucial for ensuring the smooth day-to-day operations for students, faculty, and external partners, acting as a liaison between internal academic departments and external stakeholders such as trade unions, employers, the Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS), and the Bureau of Apprenticeship Standards (BAS). The coordinator will be responsible for maintaining regulatory compliance, managing student progress and records, resolving scheduling and registration issues, and driving program growth through recruitment and grant exploration.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in related field and three (3) years experience in post-secondary education apprenticeship programs.
  • Administrative experience related to apprenticeship programs like Youth Apprenticeship, Certified Pre-Apprenticeship or Registered Apprenticeship.
  • Ability to maintain accurate and timely records of crucial data related to the apprenticeship program.
  • Demonstrated experience in program management.
  • Demonstrated skills in problem-solving and the ability to adapt or modify existing systems or procedures to accommodate current and future offerings.
  • Ability to keep complex records, to assemble and organize data, and prepare reports from such records.
  • Strong organization, time management, and follow-through.
  • Ability to communicate effectively through both oral and written means.
  • Ability to establish, collaborate and maintain effective work relationships with peers, students, teachers, staff, representatives of outside agencies, educational institutions, and the general public.
  • Ability to convey an image of professionalism and dedication in work related activities.
  • Ability to work with culturally diverse student and employee populations.
  • Proficiency in the use of computers and software specific to position, including spreadsheets and the Internet.
  • Ability to work successfully with minimal supervision and serve as a leadership role to others.
  • Ability to establish workflows, manage multiple projects, and meet necessary deadlines.
  • Compliance with all state, federal, and accreditation standards/requirements, as well as all MATC policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with registration services to monitor and assist with student schedules, monitor tuition payments, and facilitate contracts and sponsorships.
  • Work in collaboration with students and faculty to resolve academic or classroom-related issues to ensure apprentice success.
  • Coordinate with the Scholarship and Sponsorship department to assist with sponsorship requests or issues.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for trade unions, external apprenticeship sponsors, the Wisconsin Technical College system (WTCS), and MATC faculty/staff, fostering clear communication and prompt problem-solving.
  • Ensure effective communication to maintain an effective recruitment and promotion system for apprenticeship at MATC.
  • Facilitate regular check-ins with all sponsors and lead faculty within the apprenticeship programs at MATC.
  • Ensure strict adherence to State Bureau of Apprenticeship Standards (BAS) and the Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS) requirements, attend mandatory state meetings, and meticulously maintain apprentice contracts, apprentice progress tracking documents, cancellations, grades, and graduation records.
  • Partner with leadership to design and execute recruitment strategies targeting youth apprenticeship, pre-apprenticeship, and registered apprenticeship prospects, while exploring grant opportunities to support program longevity.
  • Prepares correspondence, memos, minutes, reports and other complex, technical and/or confidential documents.
  • Oversees the preparation of a variety of other materials to include correspondence, documents, reports, proposals, charts, data collection, or memos from rough draft or recordings.
  • Establishes, maintains, and enhances positive work relationships with staff, faculty, and administrators.
  • Maintains current knowledge of best practices and standards in higher education with an emphasis on community Colleges.
  • Actively organizes and/or participates in applicable workgroups, trainings, workshops, seminars, committees and professional associations or conferences to promote continuous learning.
  • Perform other related duties within the scope of the position as required for the efficient operation of the division and to support institutional objectives.

  • Salary is listed to the midpoint of the salary range and is based on the 2026/2027 rates and are determined by years of experience credit and internal salary equity.
